Natural resources of drinkable and clear water are missing in MENA in general and in GCC and UAE in particular.

Among the world installed water desalination capacity of about 30 Million m³/ day, the GCC countries have 38% and the MENA region 52%.

Modern desalination technology is Reverse Osmosis which is eager in electrical energy. In order to reduce the dependence of drinkable water production on electrical energy, CSEM-uae is active developing alternatives using waste heat and solar energy.
